Tam & Rabbie's Halloween
Performed October 31st 2015 - Gaiety Theatre, Ayr
All over the world, everyone knows Halloween as the night when witches howl and ghosts scream on every corner.
This is the night the dead walk ‘And restless spirits stalk the edges of our dreams’. It is the night that auld Betty Davidson takes Robert Burns on a journey from his death to his birth. A journey that visits the Bard’s most loved songs and poems; and traces the origins of his masterpiece Tam O’Shanter.
Along the way he stumbles into the Jolly Beggars, and what a bunch of beggars they are…
A special production developed for the Gaiety by actor and director John Murtagh (Braveheart), with Bafta award winner Iain Robertson (Sea of Souls) as the Bard, John Quinn (Stone Scissors Paper Production Partners) and a host of Scottish stars of stage and screen including Libby McArthur (River City), Joyce Faulkner (National Theatre of Scotland), Frances Thorburn (Citizens’ Theatre), Mick McNeil (Simple Minds), Carl McDougall (TV broadcaster and author), James G. O’Hara (Rebus) and many more.
